The text is in a mixture of three magical scripts, Greek, Hebrew, cipher, Latin, (and reversed Latin) with many contractions and short forms, but expanded and made plain by the editors. According to legend, St. Cyprian of Antioch (not to be confused with Cyprian of Carthage) was a powerful sorcerer hired to magically seduce a Christian woman, Justina. Justina's faith protected her from Cyprian's magic, and, seeing the strength of her devotion, Cyprian burned his magical books and converted to Christianity.
